Messages to Humanity
His Words Fall on Deaf Ears
And I look at the campsite
And see the small tepee
And various forms and variations of the teepee
Now the teepee is completely on fire
Now the teepee is large and someone steps out of it
And an original American steps out of it
And Sage greets him
And then another and another
A whole parade of original Americans step out of the teepee
One by one
And Sage greets each one of them with a handshake

And now the teepee is small again
And Michael is looking at it intensely
And Michael miniaturizes himself and enters the teepee
And we look
And we see him walking about in that world
He is walking as one of them
They do not recognize that he is not one of their own
He walks and he talks to them
And they listen to him for he is a good storyteller
And now Michael is back at the campsite
And more original Americans start filing out of the teepee
And Sage greets each one of them with a handshake
And welcomes them home

And now the teepee is small again
And Ruth is crying
She is sobbing with her face in her hands
And Sage grimly stands up and step forward and enters into the teepee
And we watch as he too walks and talks among the people
But nothing happens
His words fall on deaf ears
